I tried jitsi last week and felt more like a shell for whatever service the user already runs. My ideal app on the firs run would take me to some id key-gen routine to prep the terminal and then when is up would pop other clients in my net ( a-la apple rendezvous printer protocol). It is my impression that the concept of user on chat/voice clients is misguided. The app should go as far as relaying: "You are connected to device X". The identity verification of person is not provided. That way the concept of accounts and middle man are scratched and you are left the cans and the string which are sorely missing in todays ethernet-able appliances. Where is my PTT (push to talk) button?
